I loved Paige’s shoot! It was a beautiful early morning session filled with sunrise and city views. We headed over to a beautiful stream for our second location… snow run off. That’ll wake you up!! Paige and her mama are NOT morning people so the fact that they didn’t get into town until midnight the night before (they came from Kansas!!) and were up at 5am for their session was beyond impressive! Way to go girls!! I kept telling them it was worth it… hopefully they agree. :)
esmeralda
Esmeralda came out here all the way from Kansas for her senior pictures. Her mom, dad, and older sister even tagged along! Her parents are from El Salvador (so cool!!) and said that Cheyanne Mountain reminded them of home! Who knew!! Esmeraldas pictures turned out so stunning. The light was amazing and she was absolutely breathtaking!
elizabeth
I knew Elizabeth wanted something really special for her session. She had mentioned she wanted nature AND something fun and funky so I suggested the RiNo Art District in Denver. That place did NOT disappoint. Every direction you turn is a new look and a new fun wall. I could have shot there allllllll day long! I love it when my girls are up for something new and different. And I LOVVVVEEEE it when they trust me!
kelly
For Kelly's shoot we headed out to the Paint Mines in Calhan. It was worth the hike! I was so glad she braved the early morning with me because we had thunderstorms NON STOP for a few weeks straight. It would have been super stressful and her beautiful curls would have been toast! It was such a great morning!! Loved every moment I spent with Kelly and her darling mama.
monica
This beautiful girl came all the way out to sunny Colorado Springs for her senior pictures from Kansas. She wanted a different look than all of her friends and I think we delivered. She was exceptionally sweet and so appreciative. I LOVED spending my morning with her. Hopefully she had as much fun as I did!!
P.S. Yay for another successful morning shoot! The week of Monica's pictures AND the following week were jam packed full of afternoon storms!
luke
Luke and I have a long history. It started with his mom being Carter and Addi's kindergarten teacher. We absolutely LOVED having her spend so much time with our children. She was even Carter's teacher when he was diagnosed with cancer and came over on her off time to tutor him and make sure he didn't fall behind while not going to school. Fast forward a handful of years and I took his sister's senior pictures... and totally fell in love with her! Being amazing definitely runs in this family. Luke was a dream to photography and I honestly couldn't have asked for better locations! The only problem was me trying to get pictures of him serving the ball. For real, guys, I was STRUGGLING!! haha!!
elise
Elise flew out for her senior pictures from Oregon. She wanted the Colorado feel and since I did her sister's pictures a few years ago it only seemed natural. Speaking of natural, have you ever seen such a natural beauty?!? Every picture was complete perfection!!
Plus, I've known her forever... ok not quite THAT long but for sure since she was in braces and much much shorter. It's been amazing seeing the beautiful and kind young woman she has become.
natasha
Natasha is so darn cute! She drove 12 hours to get to me from Missouri for her senior pictures. We had beautiful weather and so so so much fun! I loved watching her dance in the middle of the street and hearing about the 25 schools she has toured while trying to decide where she is headed next year... I mean, a dancing business major needs to be picky! Thank you, Natasha! I adore you!!
cole
To say this cute boy is a crack up and goof ball is an understatement. He is a BLAST! He is, hands down, one of the happiest humans I have ever met. And he plays the guitar amazingly. (Look out ladies!) One day, hopefully lots of years from now, he will make some girl very very happy and keep her laughing for the rest of their lives!
ryann's best friend shoot
Ryann was the lucky winner of a free mini session with her best friends from my make-up night last month. We had so much fun at her session and I feel so lucky to have met her and her two besties!
leah
Leah's shoot was so fun! It was nice and early and the weather was absolute perfection. She chose two beautiful and very different locations which I always love. One showed her more natural, feminine side, while the other showed off her fun loving side. And both locations were so perfect for her!!
senior cheerleaders
This year there are three beautiful senior girls on the PCHS Varsity Cheer team. Two of them I have been taking pictures of for a few years and one is a newbie. They have sass and spunk which made taking their pictures SOOOO michu fun!!
varsity cheer team 2018 edition
I have been taking pictures of this adorable cheer team for... honestly, not even sure how long anymore. 6 tears, maybe??? 7...? Anyway, a LONG time! Each year we let the girls come up with the theme and every year they come up with something perfect! Then I pick a location that worked great with what they've picked. This little black dress theme is definitely one of my favorite themes though! So darn cute!!
masquerade {2018 spokesmodels}
This themed shoot was so cool! The girls each picked out a mask that went with their dress AND their personality. These masks showed off their beautiful eyes and the pop on their lips just added to the drama. I'm so glad they were up for the challenge of the Masquerade theme. I wouldn't change a single thing about it... except for how uncomfortable their shoes were. ;)
college bound {2018 spokesmodels}
I am sooooo excited for my Class of 2018 girls to be off to bigger and better adventures. I just hope they remember who they are and to HAVE FUN! College is about discovering your hopes and dreams, growing as an individual, and making memories with life-long friends. The only crummy thing is having to study! ha!
graduation day {2018 spokesmodels}
Every year I have the same thought: "How can this be?! How can my cute seniors be graduating and off to bigger and better things?!" It's crazy that graduation is already here. I am really proud of all of my seniors and how hard they have worked. I am constantly surprised by how many of them have spent their high school days in AP classes, student council, and extra curricular activities. They are some REALLY accomplished people!
fabulous formals {2018 spokesmodels}
Each year at my Spokesmodel shoot we do one portion of it in Prom dresses. I love this part because the girls get to be all dolled up and wear the most fabulous dress of their high school career. They always look completely flawless and stunning... and it always makes me want a do over of my own prom! Seriously. Shopping for a new dress. Getting my hair and make up done. Plus, THIS time around I could go with Bryan which would make it even more perfect!!
jessi
I've known Jessi since she was a tween. Imagine my excitement when they decided to fly out here from California to have her senior pictures taken! We ended up pushing the shoot back about 12 hours from an afternoon shoot to a morning shoot. It was a good thing we did because the weather went CRAZY!! It was a full blown blizzard up by our house! The following morning was cold but she handled it like a champ... even if she WAS shaking like a leaf! Don't worry, I brought along a thermos of super hot chocolate to try to take off the edge. I truly loved every breezy moment of this chilly morning spent with Jessi.
what to wear for senior pictures
Not sure what to wear for your senior pictures? Go with YOUR style. If you are a super casual person, make sure you don’t stray TOO far from that for your pictures. It’s obviously okay to dress things up a bit, but you want to make sure the pictures reflect YOU and who you are at this time in your life.
Make sure you have a lot of different colors. I love the color blue... and if I’m not careful, I will wear blue 5 days in a row. For your senior pictures you will want to have a lot of different colored outfits. Also be aware of what colors you look good in and what drowns you out.
Don’t be afraid of patterns. Bigger patterns are great for pictures. It adds texture and variety. The patterns to steer clear of are the really tiny ones. Gingham, for example, isn’t great for pictures because it reads weird on camera. It also looks strange if it’s creased at all (like if you’re sitting down and the shirt is folding a little like it naturally will). But go for patterns.
Textures are a must. It add interest without being distracting. Lace and scarves are great examples of adding texture in simple ways.
Writing on clothing? As a general rule, don’t do it. Even though it is super cute in real life, when someone looks at your senior pictures you want them to see your beautiful face and personality shining through... not stop to read your shirt. Save those for school. :) So, unless there's a special meaning behind the writing, I'd say pass on it.
Figuring out what to wear for your pictures can be crazy stressful! That's why each one of my clients receives a copy of my "What to Wear magazine which is almost 80 pages filled with everything from genres of clothing to body shapes to skin tones.
videography
One of my favorite parts of your Senior Session is undoubtedly the videography. My videographer, Tara, is an artist by education so she has a natural eye. She is super talented and just an overall amazing person.
My senior's videos consist of the still images that I take, video footage that Tara captures, and some voice-overs from my darling senior. We put all of that to a fabulous and fitting song to make a show-stopping video for my client and his/her parents to view at their Premier Ordering Session.
This year things will be a little different. Tara is actually doing an art show in the fall so unfortunately so will only be doing videos over the summer. All of my seniors that schedule a photoshoot with me once schools starts won't have the option to have video. It's worth it to think ahead and get your session planned for a beautiful summer morning.
